Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred
ScanSoft's Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is their latest speech recognition product, and they claim 99% accuracy. It both converts speech into text for PC applications, but also converts text to speech so that web pages and e-mails can be heard aloud. Dictate directly into a PC or any Scansoft-approved handheld digital recorder. A noise canceling microphone is included. Dictate, edit and control applications all by voice with programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, America Online, and Corel WordPerfect. The Preferred version 10 has the following new features:
- More accurate with up to 20% more accuracy than Version 9.
- Faster with more than 50% reduction in the time it takes for words to appear.
- Quick Voice Formatting - new direct commands for formatting, deleting, and copying words and passages.
- Voice shortcuts for web search - just say commands containing your desired search words.
- Voice shortcuts for desktop search - by dictating the word(s) to find in documents, emails and web-browsing history and Dragon will complete the search using Google Desktop or Windows Vista desktop search.
- New graphical icons to enhance the DragonBar user interface, including a larger microphone icon.
- Improved Natural Commands for Mozilla Firefox and the ability to activate a hyperlink by just saying part of its name.
- More Flexible Enrollment for younger speakers and users with certain speech challenges by using self-paced reading to make it easier to train the product to one's voice.
- Regional Accent Support - it now incorporates new acoustic models for better coverage of non-native and regional accents.
- Option to disable Microsoft Text Services (CTFMon) that may cause conflicts, such as advanced technical services on Windows XP or handwriting features on tablet PCs.
- Auto configuration that detects your PC's resources and adjusts default settings as needed to increase speed.
